Maternity leave is available for most women (and, surprisingly, men) who work for a company that provides health care insurance as a benefit for their employees. This type of leave is covered under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). The act requires certain employers to offer parenting, family and medical leave for qualified employees. Those who are qualified may have up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave. To find out if there is a way that you can qualify if you’re an individual wanting maternity benefits coverage, contact your local licensed health care insurance agent.
