Title Excluded for Insurance Because You’re Sick?

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Cut to the chase when you call Texas health insurance agents and let them know right up front if you have any pre-existing health conditions. This will save you time on the phone and also tell you who will cover you and who won’t. Chances are in the long run you will need to go with a carrier who will cover you, pre-existing condition and all.

The exclusion of pre-existing health conditions is rather an odd form of discrimination against people with an illness and indicates the insurance company would prefer to only insure healthy people as they’re less of a risk. There’s food for thought.

Title Cheap Insurance Usually Means Exclusions

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Sure, you might find insurance agents that can quote you a price that suits your budget, but when you get to chat about pre-existing health conditions, suddenly the price changes – drastically. So you scratch that carrier and move on to find one who will accept you. You may find one, and their price may be better than the first company you talked to, except they exclude your pre-existing medical condition. This basically means you’re no further ahead than you were when you started calling around.

Title Cheaper Texas Health Care is Available

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Not to put too fine a point on it, but you really can find cheaper Texas health care if you take the time to look for it. The secret is comparison-shopping.

While it might come as a surprise to think you really are able to get cheaper Texas health insurance, the fact is it’s also true it’s out there. All you have to do is be willing to surf the Internet, carefully read what you find and call a Texas health care agent to ask questions.

Not everything you see on a health care insurance website is the gospel truth as you’d like to know it. You are only seeing part of a huge network of people dealing with thousands of variables as they try to quote health care insurance prices to thousands of people – most of whom want the cheapest fix they can get but the best coverage money can buy. Obviously, with that many competing interests at play, the field can get quite muddled.

Title Medicare Advantage Plans Are Confusing – Supplements Are Better

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Medicare Advantage coverage options are so confusing it’s difficult to get straight answers. With the Medicare Advantage Plans, their coverage is fairly black and white – what you see is what you get (mostly). If you choose to go with private health insurance, you might think you’re covered. Wrong, as the insurance company may say they don’t have to cover your particular case. This is a little like playing Russian roulette.

To get Medicare Advantage or not to get the advantage and go private are haunting questions that are usually only resolved when you’ve had personal experience either way. The bottom line is, for coverage that makes the most sense Medicare supplements are the better route.

Title The Advantage Plan – or Is It?

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Let’s say you are in one smaller network and have a doctor that you really like. Things are going well for about a year or so and then the doctor decides s/he wants to opt out of the network. Great, this leaves you stuck unless you try and follow your doctor. Good luck on that one.

Following your doctor involves finding out if s/he will take other Medicare plans/ supplements or not. In the alternative, you may see the doctor and pay full freight to do so. If your doctor makes the decision to go the fee for service route, you might find out s/he refuses to accept the terms of the plan. That means you pay the bill. No advantages to be had there.

Are Texas Health Care Medicare Advantage Plans Really an Advantage?

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Many people wonder if Medicare Advantage Plans really are an advantage. The short and simple answer is yes and no.

Medicare Advantage Plans may be an advantage to some people depending on their requirements. For others, however, there is no advantage to them at all and in fact they are oft heard to be called major pains in the – pocketbook. Texas health insurance agents can tell you this information if you ask.

So let’s talk finances for a bit. There are people looking to be totally covered and not have to pay a dime when they need services. Then there are others who can afford to pay the 20% difference between what the doctor charges and the insurance company pays (the other 80%). Each group has it’s own wants and needs, but how each group is actually serviced is another matter entirely.

Title Opt In Confusion

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Opt in or out criteria may be confusing to say the least. You won’t find a lot of this type of information on any Texas health website either. This is the type of information only agents know well enough to explain. Remember to ask a lot of questions because the agent you speak with knows his carriers policies inside out, and can cut through the confusing jargon for you.

If you’re shaking your head in bewilderment, reach for the phone and speak to a Texas health insurance agent who knows his stuff. For each rule of thumb there is an exception or two or three, and only the agent is going to know that and be able to explain your options to you in plain English.

Opt In Dates For Texas Health Medicare

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Currently (and this seems to be subject to change without much notice) you may opt into Medicare supplements between November 15th of the prior year and December 31st, at which time you’re then locked in until the next opt out period. This might sound simple enough, but it isn’t. Now come the exceptions to the rules. You had to know that Texas health insurance has a myriad of exceptions to fit various situations.

Opt in times may vary. For instance, if you are already in a plan then you may opt into Medicare supplements between January and March rather than the 15th of November to December 31st. Or, if you are leaving a group health plan or moving to a new service area, opt in and out times will be different.

Title Opt In or Opt Out of Texas Health Insurance

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

It’s always nice to have a choice of what health care plans you want, but your needs and geographic location may change over time. Opting into and out of Medicare supplements may give you acid indigestion unless you speak to a knowledgeable insurance agent.

Things are complicated enough in today’s world without also having to worry about what you have for health care coverage. Or maybe more to the point, what you don’t have. That’s a whole can of worms itself, and so are the provisions for opt in and opt out. While Texas health insurance isn’t easy to understand, it’s at least somewhat flexible to suit your health insurance needs.

What Texas Health Care Really Offers

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Customer service hears these kinds of complaints all the time from people more than a tad irked about not being covered for something they wanted. It’s not their problem that you didn’t get what you wanted. They’re trying to backfill what an agent sold you. If you’re annoyed about your coverage, it’s the agent you need to deal with.

Make it a point to take the time to read what your health care benefits really provide, rather than assuming without glancing at them that you have all you really need. Far too many people have been unpleasantly shocked to find out their health care coverage wasn’t all that it should be.

If you’re in Texas and wanting information on Texas health insurance and what it really has to offer, talk to the experts. Don’t call a large online health care quote provider who could care less where you live or what you need.
